Jeri Ajayi, Director of Congregational Health Ministry, walks with Komen’s African-American Advisory Council last Sunday, September 27, 2020. Jeri describes the group as breast cancer survivors or family members of breast cancer survivors. Even during the pandemic, we walk to increase awareness and give what we can to “race for the cure.”

After Denver7 aired their “Cost of Care” story about us using grant money to provide free dental care to a handful of veterans, our clinic was flooded with calls. We’re so happy that we were able to help those that we did, but this overwhelming response really highlights the need for more resources to help treat those who served our country.
The mission of Inner City Health has always been to provide medical and dental care to the uninsured and underinsured. Now, we’re taking that to the next step, offering grant money to pay for dental care for several veterans without VA benefits.
The Inner City Health Center announced a major construction and expansion grant from the Colorado Health Foundation that will greatly amplify the nonprofit health clinic’s ability to provide metro-area underserved patients with medical, dental, behavioral and wellness care.
DENVER (CBS4)– Inner City Health Center has served the Denver area since 1983, but many have never heard of it. Its office is tucked away at 38th and York, filled with patients other places have refused to see.

Inner City Health Center is proud and grateful to announce a major capital grant from The Colorado Health Foundation that will extend our mission of patient-centered integrated health care into Wheat Ridge and surrounding areas.
The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF), one of the state’s largest providers of funding for improved health care and greater equity in health access for Coloradans, has awarded ICHC a $250,000 grant to expand into dental care at the recently acquired ICHC Wheat Ridge Family Health Center. The capital grand will allow construction of dental care suites at the Wheat Ridge medical clinic, reflecting the central mission of integrated health services that ICHC has operated at its York Street location for decades.
Nearly 80 percent of patients at the Wheat Ridge location are enrolled in Health First Colorado (Medicaid), and the addition of oral health care to their available services is a major improvement to care and also a great opportunity for ICHC. Health First Colorado includes an adult dental benefit in its basic coverage. In addition, Medicaid’s CHP Plus child health care plans have significant dental benefits, and there is great potential to expand family coverage at the Wheat Ridge location.
ICHC is grateful to the faith shown in our efforts and our mission by the TCHF grant, and we look forward to completing capital construction of dental services at Wheat Ridge in 2019 for the benefit of our patients.
Inner City Health Center is busily integrating the operations of a new satellite location that will greatly expand our ability to serve metro-area patients most in need of high-quality, patient-centered care delivered with dignity to all.
ICHC has acquired the long-established family medical practice of the Wheat Ridge Family Clinic, and looks forward to serving thousands of new patients in Wheat Ridge, north Denver, and the surrounding suburbs. Nearly 80 percent of Wheat Ridge’s current client base is made up of Health First Colorado (Medicaid) patients, continuing ICHC’s mission of bringing high-quality health care to all regardless of ability to pay.
Wheat Ridge will continue its tradition of offering family and adult medical services with caring, bilingual staff. ICHC has also been awarded a major capital grant from The Colorado Health Foundation to add dental service suites to the Wheat Ridge location, expanding our model of integrated health care. (Inner City Health Center’s York Street location offers fully integrated medical, dental and behavioral health care, as well as a fitness and wellness center.)
Plans are being finalized to operate our new clinic as Inner City Health Center’s Wheat Ridge Family Health Center. Look for future announcements about construction of the dental care addition at Wheat Ridge.
